Our graduated students consistently achieve high National Board for Certification in Occupation Therapy (NBCOT) scores, and have significant career placement success, reporting near 100 percent job placement in OT practice positions.
Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the graduate will be an Occupational Therapist registered (OTR). In addition, most states require licensure to practice; however state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification examination. A felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT Certification examination or attain state licensure.

Licensure
Students are eligible for state licensure following successful completion of the NBCOT Certification examination. Each state has different statutes and rules governing occupational therapy practice in their state. Graduating students should understand the practice act for the state(s) in which they want to hold a license. Minnesota licensing is governed by the Minnesota Board of Occupational Therapy Practice. Practitioners holding a Minnesota license can apply for privileges within the OT Compact.
