OT Research Labs

Minnesota Musculoskeletal and Occupational Performance Research (MnMOR) Lab

Established in 2014 by Dr. Corey McGee, The Minnesota Musculoskeletal and Occupational Performance Research (MnMOR) Lab strives to improve the health and participation of persons with upper limb musculoskeletal disorders through

  1. developing and testing the effectiveness of rehabilitation interventions
  2. validating mechanisms of rehabilitation interventions, and
  3. developing and testing the psychometrics of measurement tools used for persons with upper-limb musculoskeletal disorders.

Acute Care Service Delivery Exploration

Starting in 2023, the Acute Care Service Delivery Exploration lab strives to advocate for the value in occupational therapy service delivery in acute care by:

  1. describing the functional outcomes and impact of occupational therapy service delivery and
  2. evaluation of knowledge, abilities, and skills to support professional reasoning and readiness for service delivery in acute care.

Neurorehabilitation and Applied Physiology (NAP) Lab

Dr. Johnson’s laboratory has four primary areas of interest:

  1. Investigating the mechanisms underlying the formation, retention, and generalization of motor skills;
  2. Developing novel behavioral and neuromodulatory interventions that target these mechanisms;
  3. Translating these interventions to restore motor function and increase community participation of individuals with neurological damage; and
  4. Developing and/or refining clinical outcome measures to document improvements in motor function and community participation in individuals with neurological damage.

The NAP lab utilizes behavioral, neuromodulatory, and neuroimaging methods to approach these four primary areas of research interest.
