The University of Minnesota's Occupational Therapy programs' purpose is the preparation of entry-level occupational therapy professionals capable of creative and independent critical thinking required for current and future practice, education, and research in occupational therapy. We educate leaders through innovative experience-based education and research to advance the science of occupational therapy, and foster the health and quality of life of individuals, groups, communities, and populations. We value empathy, communication, teamwork, and leadership.

The University of Minnesota Occupational Therapy program is a hybrid program with instruction and learning occurring on campus and distance learning components (online).

Graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for the Occupational Therapist, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this examination, the graduate will be an occupational therapist, registered (OTR).
