Despite the 7.7 million nonmetropolitan residents who reported having a mental illness and more than 16% of U.S. adults who reported taking prescription medication to help with mental health in 2023, access to medical and mental health services remains significantly limited. This is the backdrop to the recent pause in the College of Pharmacy’s longstanding partnership with the Human Development Center, a certified community behavioral health clinic serving northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Awards recognize exceptional service to the University

Keri Hager, PharmD, BCACP, was inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP) at the organization’s recent annual meeting and forum.
For over 17 years, pharmacy and medicine students on the University of Minnesota Duluth campus have operated the Health of People Everywhere (HOPE) Clinic, providing the community with free urgent care. Dr. Tim Stratton, the clinic’s pharmacy faculty advisor, has been there since the planning stages of the clinic. This January marks his 21st year working in the college and as he nears his planned retirement at the end of August, he reflects on his two decades of HOPE Clinic history.
