Lyle & Sharon Bighley: Helping others further their education
Encouragement from Lyle Bighley's eighth grade teacher in a one-room rural schoolhouse was the reason he went to high school, pharmacy school and, ultimately, graduate school. When he was in graduate school, Lyle received financial help from an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education Fellowship. This enabled him to complete his graduate studies. The Bighleys are grateful for that assistance and wanted to pass along that same sort of help to graduate students at his alma mater.
As a vital part of the campaign to drive the University of Minnesota to new levels of greatness, the College of Pharmacy has set a bold vision for shaping the future of global health care. Building on a strong legacy of leadership in education, practice, and research, the College of Pharmacy seeks to raise $30 million in philanthropic support to advance our commitment to preparing the next generation of pharmacy leaders, discovering new cures and treatments, and transforming the practice of pharmacy to improve the health of individuals and communities throughout Minnesota and populations worldwide.
