BS in MLS

The BS in MLS is the degree plan for students who are earning their first (or second) bachelor's degree, and who are seeking to become eligible to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. Students have options on the point of entry into the program based on prerequisite course requirements completed.

BS students Basic Admission Requirements

  • GPA: 2.75 cumulative and prerequisite GPA
  • C- or higher in all completed prerequisites

General Chemistry I with lab

General Chemistry II with lab (can be in progress spring semester)

Plus one of the following: 

General Biology
Calculus or short calculus
Statistics

Pre-professional and Professional year admissions

Application process

Current or previous degree-seeking University of Minnesota students

  • If you have ever been enrolled as a degree-seeking student at the UM-TC or UM Rochester, apply for admission to Medical Lab Sciences by completing the Change of College form.
  • If you have ever been enrolled as a degree-seeking student at system campuses - UM Morris, UM Crookston, or UM Duluth, apply for admission by completing the Change of Campus application.

Transfer applicant (BS degree) new to the University of Minnesota
