Caitlin Lichtenfels Awarded Louise T. Dosdall Fellowship

April 5, 2024

Caitlin Lichtenfels

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry is delighted to announce that Caitlin Lichtenfels has been awarded a Louise T. Dosdall Fellowship through the graduate school.

Caitlin works in Prof. Carston “Rick” Wagner’s laboratory and has been instrumental in continuing the lab’s research into farnesylated chemically self-assembled nanorings for cell-based drug delivery.

In addition, she has been an outstanding citizen of the department. Caitlin most recently collaborated with faculty, students, and staff to recruit our next great PhD cohort as a member of the department’s graduate student recruitment committee. She is also a leader in DEI-R within the department and her profession, receiving accolades for her outreach work both at UMN and at the national level through ACS MEDI.

The Dosdall Fellowship supports women graduate students in any field of the natural or physical sciences who show exceptional promise for a successful career in research. Louise Dosdall entered the University of Minnesota in 1912 and completed her Ph.D. in 1922. An expert on mushrooms and ornamental plants, she taught plant pathology at the University of Minnesota for 41 years. She established the fellowship in her will.

Caitlin, we are proud of your accomplishments. This fellowship is well-deserved, and we are excited to follow your career at UMN and beyond. Congratulations!
