Federico earned a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Social and Administrative Pharmacy emphasis) at Creighton University. He also earned a Master in Pharmaceutical Technology and Regulatory Affairs, and a Pharmacy degree from the University of Pavia, Italy, after which he obtained his pharmacist license.
