2026 Melendy Lecturer: Rear Admiral (retired) Pamela Schweitzer

Rear Admiral (retired) Pamela Schweitzer served a four-year term as the Assistant Surgeon General and 10th Chief Pharmacist Officer of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps. As Chief Pharmacist Officer, Schweitzer was responsible for providing leadership and coordination of more than 1,300 PHS pharmacy officers in 13 agencies with the Office of the Surgeon General and the Department of Health & Human Services. Over her 29-year career in federal service, Dr. Schweitzer served in diverse assignments at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Indian Health Service (IHS), and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). She has a wide variety of experiences with developing clinical programs, leading large-scale initiatives and advancing health system transformation. Dr. Schweitzer serves as an active champion for the pharmacy profession and its impact on public health, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

2025 Melendy Lecturer: Michael Murphy, PharmD, MBA

Dr. Murphy is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and a Senior Advisor for State Government Affairs at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). A dedicated advocate for pharmacy policy, Dr. Murphy works closely with policymakers, professional organizations, and health systems to advance legislative and regulatory initiatives that expand pharmacists' roles in patient care.
