Bio
Dr. Athena Cannon is an ambulatory care pharmacist in Minneapolis, Minnesota with notable roles as a clinical pharmacist for the Indian Health Board of Minneapolis, sports pharmacy consultant working with Drug Free Sport International, course director of Fair Play: Navigating Medication Use and Anti-doping in Sport at the University of Minnesota’s Pharmacy Learning Collaborative, and the founder of the U.S. Sports Pharmacy Group. Dr. Cannon completed the 24-month Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Residency at the University of Minnesota in 2022. During her training she focused on providing primary care for the underserved-urban population in Minneapolis, interdisciplinary teaching and precepting through the pharmacy and medical school, and building new clinical practices to increase access to quality medication management. Dr. Cannon has served on the board for the Minnesota Pharmacist Association, the Texas Tech University College of Pharmacy Alumni Board and the U.S. Sports Pharmacy Group. She has contributed to the field of ambulatory care, leadership, and sports pharmacy through research, lecturing, consulting, and committee work nationally and internationally.
