Aligning Health Plan and Provider Strategies for Optimal Medication Management
This material has been designed by pharmacists in community pharmacy settings and in health plan settings. The overarching goal is to educate practicing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on optimal delivery of comprehensive medication management, as well as documentation and billing, for high-value patient outcomes.
Goals/Objectives
Module 1: What Does Optimal CMM Look Like
- Analyze and design an optimal Comprehensive Medication Management (CMM) service delivery model
- Describe and evaluate the complete patient care cycle within the CMM framework (Includes stages such as care provision, claim submission, data reporting, quality assurance, and patient follow-up).
Module 2: Health Plan and Design Perspective
- Explain the value of the Pharmaceutical Patient Care Process from a health plan perspective
- Introduce the regulatory requirements to administer the MTM program/benefit within a health plan
Instructors
Anita Aderinkomi
Anita has over 15 years of experience in designing and teaching others how to build pharmaceutical care practices to deliver comprehensive medication management services. Over the past five years, she has influenced the benefit design for comprehensive medication management services within a health plan. In her current role, she has accountability for the pharmacy quality strategy.
Samantha Ketterling
Samantha Ketterling is the Director of Pharmacy and Clinical Operations at Thrifty White Pharmacy. Samantha earned her PharmD at NDSU and has over 13 years of pharmacy experience including roles as pharmacy technician, pharmacy intern and pharmacist. As a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist, Samantha utilizes her experience to create and influence the impact pharmacy can have on patient’s health and wellbeing. Samantha has served patients in rural communities by providing traditional pharmacy services, immunizations, managing chronic diseases and coordinating care. Through the development and adoption of clinical service initiatives, Samantha partners with pharmacists across Thrifty White to serve patients in their communities.
Kailee Koenen
Kailee Koenen, PharmD, is the Pharmacy Quality Manager at UCare in Minnesota. In this role, she oversees a team of pharmacists who provide Comprehensive Medication Management (CMM) services, along with other Part D Measure initiatives and works with external partners to help provide services to UCare members through their health system or community pharmacy. She has ten years of combined experience providing CMM services, leading teams who deliver CMM services, and helping to pilot initiatives for CMM services and other clinical pharmacy programs. Kailee received her Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Pharmacy degrees from North Dakota State University and completed two years of residency training at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis (PGY-1 & PGY-2 Ambulatory Care).
Erin Suomala
Erin Suomala has been in the Senior Manager of Clinical Services position with Cub Pharmacies since 2016, where she supports community pharmacy clinical services that are integrated in pharmacy workflow and performed independent of workflow, as applicable. Erin graduated from the Minnesota College of Pharmacy (Duluth campus) in 2014, and started her career with Cub Pharmacy as a PGY1 Community Pharmacy Practice Resident.

Aligning Health Plan and Provider Strategies for Optimal Medication Management is 1 contact hour. Participants must complete two (2) modules and the evaluation.
