Kappa Psi has continued to stay busy this Spring! This month we went to the National Plains Province Assembly in Fargo, ND. At the end of the month, we went up to Breezy for our annual cabin retreat and had a blast!

We have continued volunteering at the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic’s dispensing pharmacy and to give STI talks at local high schools. We sold water bottles and embroidered white coats as fundraisers and will have one more walking taco fundraiser this semester. Our chapter also voted in our new executive board, and we all look forward to the rest of our activities during the end of the semester.

MPSA

April was an active and productive month for MPSA. For the first time ever, students provided health outreach at a WILD hockey game, providing direct health education to over 1,000 Minnesotans, and reaching over 10,000 game-goers with pharmacy advocacy messaging on the big screens! Members also provided blood pressure screenings and immunization education at the Richfield Health Expo.

MPSA with children

Generation Rx and Operation Mental Health tackled some pertinent issues by hosting a panel on addiction and an educational session on “Emotional Labor in Healthcare and Suicide Risk Factors.” Additionally, MPSA teamed up with Walgreens to educate members about Red Nose Day and childhood poverty. Lastly, IPSF and MPSO held a joint meeting that focused on highlighting global pharmacy experiences available to students including conferences, elective courses, APPE rotations, and exchange programs.

Some student pharmacists attended the CPNP Annual Conference in early April in Salt Lake City, Utah, while other members braved a blizzard to attend the MSHP Annual Conference in Duluth. Posters were presented by MPSA members at both conferences. Following these conferences, over 75 student leaders have been elected and appointed to professional association, patient care coordinator, and operational leadership positions in MPSA for the 2019-2020 academic year!

PHI DELTA CHI THETA

During the month of April, Phi Delta Chi Theta chapter held our elections for the upcoming year’s Executive Board and Committee Chair positions. We have an excellent team moving forward and are excited for the coming year! We also participated in multiple events benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, including the St. Jude Red Carpet for Hope and a Corepower Yoga fundraising event. Additionally, we closed out the month with our scholarship banquet to honor the academic achievements of our Brothers.

Coming up, we are hosting a Pharmacy Day Social on May 2 at the Phi Delta Chi house where everyone from the College of Pharmacy is welcome to come and celebrate the end of the school year! Another upcoming event some of our Brothers will be attending over the summer is Grand Council in Anaheim, Calif. This is Phi Delta Chi’s national meeting where Brothers can participate in leadership training, meet Brothers from across the country, and vote on national policies.

PHI LAMBDA SIGMA

PHI LAMBDA SIGMA

On Saturday, April 13, Phi Lambda Sigma hosted the Second Annual Leadership Symposium "It Starts With Us" at Clyde Ironworks in Duluth. The purpose of the Leadership Symposium is to inspire students, faculty and alumni to ignite change and innovation in pharmacy, as well as connect students and alumni together. Students and faculty from both campuses heard from keynote speaker, Alan Spies RPh, JD, MBA, PhD, a professor at the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. He presented on The 5 Gears and Change of Pace and Change of Place: The Lightbulb Experience.
