UMN Medicinal Chemists Make Appearances at Summer Research Meetings
July 2, 2025
The Medicinal Chemistry Department and its graduate program were well-represented at this year's Bioorganic Chemistry Gordon Conference in Andover, NH! It was particularly wonderful for our faculty and student attendees to connect with recent and past graduates of the graduate program and catch up on their stellar careers.
This conference has developed over the last 30 years into a premier chemical biology conference for researchers. Prof. Dan Harki gave and outstanding presentation on his lab’s recent work targeting N-Myc with a degrader. Also in attendance were Prof. Carston "Rick" Wagner and Prof. William C.K. Pomerantz. There were poster presentations from our students and others that contributed to a good mix of new ideas and scientific avenues to explore.
Our department was also well-represented at the joint American Peptide Symposium and International Peptide Symposium in San Diego, CA! Again, folks had the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and collaborators in the world of peptides - a special treat!
Prof. Carrie Haskell-Luevano gave a stimulating talk on her labs efforts to identify peptidic ligands for GPCRs and Prof. Mark Distefano discussed his lab's compelling synthetic / biological studies of K-Ras4B. Several students attended as well, presenting amazing posters.
We are always thrilled to see our faculty and students out-and-about, contributing their knowledge to a vast shared scientific understanding. And what a better time to do so than in the summer.
Congratulations everyone on your accomplishments at these important meetings!
