A group shot of graduate students at the Rho Chi day

The College of Pharmacy recently held its annual Rho Chi College Research Day and Graduate Student Showcase. Our department was well-represented!

The Rho Chi Society encourages and recognizes excellence in intellectual achievement and advocates for critical inquiry in all aspects of pharmacy. The Society further encourages high standards of conduct and character and fosters fellowship among its members.

Of the short talks selected for presentation:

Wagner Lab PhD Student Jigar Sethiya spoke about his work on the design of new pronucleotides.

Duerfeldt Lab PhD Student Julia Lee spoke about her design of PPAR alpha ligands for diabetic retinopathy,

Aldrich Lab Postdoc Dr. Kateryna Kostenkova spoke about her work discovering Rifamycin analogs effective against drug resistant TB.

Several students also presented posters:

Wagner Lab PhD Student Bryan Magana took a first-place award for his poster Anchimerically Activated ProTides with Antiviral Activity Against Dengue Virus.

Georg Lab PhD Student Noha Taher took a second-place award for her poster Development of Dual RARα and RARγ Antagonists for Non-Hormonal Male Contraception.

Congratulations to these students and to all others who participated. A special thanks also to the department faculty who attended and showed their support for our graduate program.
