Elizabeth Ambrose and Rick Wagner Awarded Grants
December 19, 2024

Congratulations to Medicinal Chemistry’s Prof. Elizabeth Ambrose and graduate student Bill Howlett for being awarded a NSF BioPacific MIP (Materials Innovation Platform) grant. The grant covers free-of-charge access to all NSF BioPacific resources and is titled “The effects of the microenvironment on nerve agent degradation activity of encapsulated Phosphotriesterase in hybrid material textile coatings.”
Congratulations also to Prof. Rick Wagner for being awarded a DOD Exploration – Hypothesis Development Award entitled “AI-Designed De Novo Mini-Proteins Coupled with Small Molecule Initiate Immune Cell-Mediated Eradication of PSMA-Expressing CRPC Cells”. This award is in tandem with his computational collaborator, Prof. Yibin Deng from the Department of Urology at UMN’s Medical School. Their goal is to use AI tools to design nanobodies without the need for screening that can be used for the preparation of unique anti-prostate cancer T-cell engagers.
