Dr. Sarah Westberg to step down as associate dean for professional affairs

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (5/5/25) — Dr. Sarah Westberg, University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy associate dean for professional affairs and professor, has accepted a new position as dean of the Anderson Family College of Health Sciences (AFCHS) at Bethel University and will be resigning from her position at the college, effective June 30, 2026. 

In her more than 23 years of service to the college, Westberg has earned numerous accolades, including induction into the Academy for Excellence in Health Care Practice, fellowship in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, a Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year Award, an AACP Innovations in Teaching Award, and more than ten Teacher of the Semester awards. In her role as an associate dean, Westberg fostered college partnerships with professional organizations and practitioners throughout Minnesota to advance pharmacy practice in the state. In her clinical practice, Westberg specialized in comprehensive medication management delivered in collaboration with primary care and OB-GYN providers. 

Westberg earned her PharmD from Drake University and completed a pharmaceutical care leadership residency at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. She joined the college in 2003 as an assistant professor and later became a professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Care and Health Systems in 2019. In 2015, she stepped into the position of co-associate dean of clinical affairs. She also served as program director of the college’s Postgraduate Pharmacy Residency Program for three years and as the assistant program director for the three years prior. 

College of Pharmacy Dean Kip Guy expects the search for Westberg’s successor to begin this summer.
