The Department of Medicinal Chemistry is delighted to announce that Dr. Natalia Tretyakova has been named the Editor-in-Chief of Therapeutics NOW, a new journal that will begin publishing in 2026 with German publisher Thieme!

The journal describes itself as:

“Therapeutics NOW is a high-quality, peer-reviewed Gold Open Access journal dedicated to the publication of cutting-edge research in the field of innovative medical treatments and technologies. The journal serves as a platform for scientists, clinicians, and industry experts to share groundbreaking advancements in areas such as gene therapy, immunotherapy, drug discovery, and personalized medicine. Therapeutics NOW spans the scope of research from bench to bedside for results aimed at the development of next-generation therapeutics.”

Dr. Tretyakova shared her vision for the new journal: “Our idea [with Therapeutics NOW] is to have an interdisciplinary focus on chemistry, biology, chemical and biological engineering, and clinical practice. It will be a highly translational journal. I am also excited to have a strong international focus with editors coming from places including the U.S., India, China, and the European Union.”

In addition, the journal will use Thieme’s Select Crowd Review peer-review process, which allows for faster than average times from submission to publication. In this model, vetted reviewers see all the articles currently pending review and choose the ones they are excited to give feedback on. Then, the editorial team will use AI to aggregate the reviewers’ comments before a final review and further conversations with the author.

Dr. Tretyakova stressed that the journal is hoping researchers are excited to get involved with Therapeutics Now by joining the editorial team or submitting articles for consideration. “It really is a great opportunity for younger researcher especially,” she noted.

Congratulations, Dr. Tretyakova! We’re excited for this great opportunity and eager to read the first issue of Therapeutics NOW!
