Dr. Carston R. Wagner Named Head of Department of Medicinal Chemistry

Dr. Carston R. Wagner, Distinguished University Teaching Professor and Endowed Chair in Medicinal Chemistry, has been named the new head of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, effective July 18, 2022.
Dr. Wagner is a collaborative leader who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role. As a pioneer in the field of medicinal chemistry, his research laboratory focuses on the development of new anti-cancer and antiviral therapies, as well as non-opioid pain medications. Students, the college’s curriculum and the pharmacy profession greatly benefit from Dr. Wagner’s many contributions.
Under his leadership the Department of Medicinal Chemistry will undoubtedly carry on and enhance its longstanding reputation as among the best in the country.
