Dr. Amy Pittenger to serve as interim vice provost for undergraduate education

University of Minnesota Provost Gretchen Ritter announced to University leadership last week that Dr. Amy Pittenger has agreed to serve as interim vice provost for undergraduate education, starting Feb. 2, 2026 and concluding Aug. 31, 2027. Dr. Raj Singh, who is currently serving in the role of vice provost, will return to his faculty position in the Carlson School of Management at the start of the new year. 

Pittenger is well-known for her exceptional leadership and outstanding service to the University and the College of Pharmacy. Through her various leadership roles, she has helped shape strategies that advance academic excellence, foster innovation, and strengthen our commitment to student and faculty success. 

As interim vice provost, Pittenger will provide leadership and administrative oversight to the units within the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) and serve as a key member of Provost Ritter’s leadership team. She will also play an important role in campus-wide academic affairs that will include continuing to advance OUE’s strategic initiatives in alignment with the University’s next, forward-looking strategic roadmap. Following her service as interim vice provost, Pittenger will return to her faculty position.
