Alexis Stoorza Awarded ACS MEDI Predoctoral Fellowship

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry is proud to announce that PhD student Alexis Stoorza was awarded an ACS Division of Medicinal Chemistry Predoctoral Fellowship for 2025-26! Alexis works with Dr. Adam Duerfeldt in his lab.
The award is for predoctoral students in their third or fourth year of graduate study engaged in medicinal chemistry research in a Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemistry department.
“I am honored to receive the ACS MEDI predoctoral fellowship and am grateful for the abundant support from my committee and the opportunity to share my research with the medicinal chemistry community,” Alexis shared when asked about her achievement.
Alexis is developing antivirulence therapies targeting two-component systems in E. coli for the treatment of multidrug-resistant Urinary Tract Infections. You can read more about the work of the Duerfeldt Lab here.
