Pharmacy Alumni Awards Celebration

The College of Pharmacy's Alumni Awards Celebration was held Dec. 4, 2014 at McNamara Alumni Center in Minneapolis. The event celebrated recipients of annual awards sponsored by the Century Mortar Club (CMC) and the Pharmacy Alumni Society (PAS).

Below is a list of award recipients and excerpts from the remarks made about each during the award presentation.

CMC Friend of the College Award
Michael Hillmeyer
“Students know that Michael enjoys teaching them, sharing ideas with them, and challenging them to think. His insight and contributions are stimulating, leading to active and fruitful discussions.”

PAS Mentee of the Year
Lucas Jorgenson
“Lucas is engaged and interested with willingness to observe and ask questions. His mentor stated, “I felt as though he utilized the opportunity to learn to the fullest….I think Lucas will do well in his pharmacy career!”

CMC Student Recognition Award 
Rebecca Pulk
“Rebecca is an outstanding student leader who has contributed to the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, the Clarion Board, the Center for Leading Healthcare Change, the Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance, and the Student National Advisory Committee for ACCP.”

PAS Mentor of the Year
Dan Tomaszewski
“Dan is a welcoming, genuinely interested, thoughtful, and informative mentor, someone who prompted helpful discussions and also served as a reference.”

PAS Mentor of the Year
Kelly Sioris
“Kelly is so approachable…. She obviously cares about students and has such a good energy to learn from."

Distinguished Pharmacist Award
Gary Carlson
“A humorous and popular lecturer, a friend of students and pharmacists, and a loyal supporter of pharmacy and the University of Minnesota, Gary truly is a distinguished pharmacist.”

PAS Faculty Recognition Award
Earl Dunham
"Earl has taught pharmacology for pharmacy students for many years. In doing this he is recognized as being a challenging but extremely fair instructor with a special compassion for students and helping them to learn. His willingness to go the extra mile to assist students is clearly evident."
