James Cloyd Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
James Cloyd has been selected to receive the Sumner J. Yaffe Lifetime Achievement Award in Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics by the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group.
Established in 2002 in honor of the late Dr. Sumner Yaffe, the award is given annually in recognition of significant and sustained contributions toward the improvement of children's health through the field of pediatric pharmacology and therapeutics.
Cloyd was recognized for his contributions to the field, which have expanded and enhanced the knowledge about the use of drugs in children and about the treatment of disease. He has also been instrumental in training the next generation of clinical pharmacists and pharmacologists.
“I am humbled by my selection as the 2015 recipient of the Sumner J. Yaffe Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Cloyd. “Dr. Yaffe was the father of pediatric clinical pharmacology and a giant in the field. To be linked to him in a small way is most satisfying. The past recipients of the award, many of whom I know personally, have made seminal contributions to improving the health of children. I am honored to be included in this group.”
As the award recipient, Cloyd will present the 2015 Yaffe Award Lecture during the 24th PPAG Annual Meeting on May 1 at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center.
