Dr. Amy Pittenger Receives UMN 2021-2022 Distinguished Teaching Award

Dr. Amy L. Pittenger, head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Care & Health Systems and professor, is the recipient of a 2022 Award for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education as part of the 2021-2022 Distinguished Teaching Awards. 

The award description notes, “Professor Amy Pittenger is someone who deeply cares about the student experience. She has demonstrated her commitment to learners through creative educational design and supportive and long-term mentorship and advising. Dr. Pittenger is a recognized expert in educational design across modalities and learner types. Her contributions to teaching and learning have been recognized through multiple awards and leadership roles.”

This award was established in 1999 to “recognize contributions to graduate and professional education. Recipients are chosen for excellence in instruction; involvement of students in research, scholarship, and professional development; development of instructional programs; and advising and mentoring of students.” Pittenger will be inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers and carry the designation of Distinguished University Teaching Professor throughout her career at the University of Minnesota.
