Graduate Student Funding

Funding Details and Amounts

Current and active Medicinal Chemistry graduate program students are funded through:

  • First year graduate students are generally funded by supporting the College of Pharmacy’s PharmD program through Teaching Assistantships (TAs).
  • Beginning with their second year, students are generally funded through Research Assistantships (RAs).
  • Both Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships fall under the umbrella category of Graduate Assistantships (GAs).
  • Effective August 25, 2025, the GA pay rate for students in the Medicinal Chemistry graduate program is $33.35/hr. Over 12 months, a 50% GA is equal to approximately $34,680.
  • Students are funded for fall, spring and summer terms.
Further Funding

Further funding is supported through various fellowships and traineeships for which students may qualify.

Internships

Internships are an option for graduate students in the Medicinal Chemistry PhD program.

  • Students may take on one external internship that supports their development in a respective field.
  • The internship experience is optional and must be agreed upon by the student, their PI, and the program.
