From the Dean

Dean Lynda Welage

Dear alumni and friends,

As we move through these long, beautiful days of summer, this issue of The Record takes a look back at the many recognitions and celebrations that filled our college life this past spring. From the commencement ceremonies of our class of 2021 PharmD and MS/PhD graduates, to the first ever Dean’s Scholarship & Fellowship Celebration that was held virtually, our community was filled with activity. We’ve also included highlights that encapsulate many tremendous achievements by students, staff, faculty and alumni in the last quarter.

We are busy planning for an exciting academic year that will include a return to campus this fall. We look so forward to connecting with everyone. Like many other organizations, the pandemic taught us a lot. We are working to develop plans that take advantage of some changes we made during the pandemic.

Before the pandemic, distance often limited our connectivity to alumni across the world. Through the pandemic we found ways to connect via Zoom, bringing us all a little closer. Similarly, while we have always prided ourselves on being “One College, Two Campus,” this past year made some aspects of our connections across campuses more seamless.

Going forward, we are working to build the best of both worlds. We’ll use hybrid technologies, when appropriate, to keep people connected and we’ll look forward to many opportunities to reconnect in-person. Note the calendar of events at the end of this email and mark your calendar for events coming this fall. We’ll continue to keep you updated as more plans are made. We look forward to seeing all of you sometime soon.

With gratitude,
