Kathryn Gustafson is pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at the University of Minnesota, Duluth – College of Pharmacy with an expected graduation date of May 2015. She is from Elk River, Minnesota, and did her undergraduate coursework at The College of St. Scholastica, Duluth.
Kathryn became involved in the College of Pharmacy serving as the Auction Coordinator and Student Political Advocacy Network Liaison for Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. She was also the Chapter Delegate for Mid-year Regional Meeting, 2011 and is a foundering member of the Student Chapter at UMD of the Bemidji Branch of the Commissioned Officers Association of the USPHS, Inc. Her Strengths are Focus, Futuristic, Learner, Achiever, and Responsibility and she is passionate about the pharmacy profession and learning.
Kathryn’s interest in leadership stems from being active in the organization Students Today Leaders Forever while in undergraduate school. While in this organization, she went on three spring breaks trips where she volunteered around the country and participated in leadership building activities. In 2011, she led the spring break trip where her enthusiasm for helping others and inspiring others to get involved was further developed. Currently, she continues to inspire others in her role as the Political Advocacy Network Liaison by getting more student pharmacists to become advocates for the profession through enthusiasm and support. She believes leaders inspire others to become involved and make a difference in the world.
She hopes to continue to be an advocate and leader for the profession by being actively involved in professional pharmacy organizations and becoming a Commissioned Officer of the Public Health Service upon graduation.
