Summary

As the pharmacist in the emergency department, I am the medication expert on the healthcare team. Together, we must think critically and communicate efficiently to care for our patients. We need to apply the best available evidence in making medication decisions. In my teaching, I strive to engage students in this process, encouraging them to build upon their knowledge becoming lifelong learners.

Research

Research Summary/Interests

My research is focused on the development of pharmacy services in the emergency department. I am also studying the knowledge and beliefs of healthcare professionals regarding naloxone education and distribution. I am working on increasing the education regarding naloxone for healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.

After my residency, I spent eight years at Mercy Hospital working in a variety of acute care settings including critical care and emergency medicine. At St. Luke's, I have designed and implemented pharmacy services in their emergency department.
