Summary

Claire Kolar received her PharmD from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy and is currently a PhD Candidate in the Social and Administrative Pharmacy program. She is an affiliate member of the Wulling Center for Innovation & Scholarship in Pharmacy Education and specializes in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) and Program Evaluation.

Awards & Recognition

2016: University of Minnesota Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship Award. Awarded by the University of Minnesota Graduate School, the Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship gives the University’s most accomplished PhD candidates an opportunity to devote full-time effort to an outstanding research project by providing time to finalize and write a dissertation during the fellowship year.

2016: Biruta K. & Peter A. Olsteins Graduate Fellowship. Awarded to full-time University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy students working toward a PhD in good academic standing with exceptional potential in their field.

2015: Wertheimer Leadership Fellowship. Awarded to a graduate student in the Social and Administrative Pharmacy program at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy who has demonstrated a desire to pursue a leadership role in pharmacy.

Research

Research Summary/Interests

Dr. Kolar is studies the teaching, learning and assessment of patient-centered care and the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process (PPCP). Her dissertation research aims to identify Threshold Concepts associated with learning the PPCP. Other projects have focused on assessment strategies (e.g. Classroom Assessment Techniques, Concepts Maps) for patient-centered care and peer teaching opportunities introducing students to Pharmaceutical Care and the PPCP. In addition, Dr. Kolar works to develop evaluation processes and instruments for use at the course, program, or curricular level.
