Summary
Dr. Thomas is a retired business woman/entrepreneur, having launched, managed, sold and founded several pharmacy managed care companies. Dr. Thomas helped found one of the first pharmacy benefit management companies—Clinical Pharmacy Advantage. Dr. Thomas has held senior management positions at MedCenters Health Plans, Aetna, Clinical Pharmacy Advantage, McKesson, PCS, Eli Lilly, St. Jude Medical, Schering-Plough, and Magellan Health Services.She holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy and she studied as a visiting researcher at the London School of Economics. She is one of the founders of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). Dr Thomas holds adjunct faculty positions at the University of Minnesota. She is Senior Fellow with the College of Pharmacy Center for Leading Healthcare Change at the University of Minnesota. In 2010, she was awarded AMCP’s highest award, the Steven G. Avey Award, which recognizes an individual for sustained, exemplary, and distinguished service to the profession of managed care pharmacy. In 2013, she received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the University of Minnesota. The award is the Highest Non-Degree Conferred by the University of Minnesota. She is a candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives and is honored to use her wealth of pharmacy and business experience to serve Minnesota. She is the author of several books and resides in Wayzata. Between being a grandmother, gardener, opera lover and duplicate bridge player, the profession of pharmacy remains her "pursuit of happiness."
