2019 Pharmacy Day and Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance live and silent auction

Students, faculty and staff celebrated annual Pharmacy Day on May 3. The daylong event included studentorganized activities like a 5k walk/run, volleyball and kickball tournaments, and other outdoor activities.

In the evening, the Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance (MPSA) hosted a 1920’s speakeasy-themed live and silent auction at TCF Bank Stadium on the Twin Cities campus. Approximately 130 people attended the event, which started with a banquet recognizing student leaders and the swearing in of the new MPSA executive board, followed by auction festivities.

The event raised approximately $15,000, which will be used to support students and MPSA service activities.

During the 2018-19 school year, MPSA hosted more than 180 community outreach and professional development events across both campuses and directly served over 5,000 Minnesotans by providing free education and pointof-care services such as immunizations, cholesterol and blood pressure checks, blood glucose screenings, and more.

“With the funds raised in our Fund-a-Need portion of the night, we raised enough money to send 58 students to Legislative Day next year to advocate for the future of pharmacy practice,” said Kayla Kermode, who coordinated the auction. “Thanks to all who attended, donated, and contributed to the auction.”

Thanks to Brent Savino and Leslie Siegel for coordinating the MPSA recognition banquet. Thank you also to event sponsors Kurt Johnson Auctioneering, Century Mortar Club, College Board, Professional Student Government, Dean Lynda Welage, Dr. Wendy St. Peter, Minnesota Pharmacists Association, Walgreens, and Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity.
