The University of Minnesota operates on a semester system consisting of fall and spring semesters, a short spring intercession and a summer session. Students are admitted to the Social and Administrative Pharmacy track for fall semester only. The application deadline is February 1. Applications received after February 1 will be considered on a space-available basis only.
Since financial assistance is normally decided in the spring, applications should be received by February 1, for fall admission.
Applicants for the program must possess a U.S. Bachelor's degree or a comparable foreign degree from a recognized college or university. In general, preference will be given to candidates who have had professionally-related education, but individuals from other fields such as biology, chemistry, statistics and public health will be considered. There is no foreign language requirement. The TOEFL score is required of foreign applicants who are non-native English speakers.
The Graduate School prefers an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) for admission. A performance level of 580 is preferred on the TOEFL for all international applicants whose native language is not English. TOEFL scores and GRE scores should be included in the application to the Graduate School and copies sent to the department.
Required Forms
Application to the Graduate School is completed online. There is a required application fee.
The departmental graduate applicant profile and the supplemental application questions forms should be sent directly to the department. Also send a copy of transcripts and all other documentation to the department.
In addition to the Graduate School application, the graduate applicant profile (see our Forms page), the departmental supplementary application form (see our Forms page) and three letters of recommendation are required by the department. The three letters of recommendation should be from people who can reflect on the applicant's academic work or professional experiences. Recommendation letters must include the full name of the student, and the full name, address and telephone number of the person providing the recommendation. A copy of the TOEFL and GRE scores should be included in the application to the department.
Notification
The Graduate School will notify applicants of acceptance to the program. Because of enrollment limitations, applicants meeting admission requirements may be placed on a waiting list and will be notified as space becomes available.
