Practice-based Research Goals


Conduct Practice-Based Research in Pharmaceutical Care

  • Use effective project management skills
  • Define a research question
    • Complete a literature search on the subject
  • Outline appropriate methodologies to evaluate the research question
  • Conduct a research project
    • Obtain Institutional Review Board approval, if necessary
    • Collect relevant data
    • Analyze data and summarize findings
  • Communicate research findings by engaging in the peer-review publication process
    • Identify an appropriate journal for publication of the completed work
    • Prepare a manuscript following the journal's "Guidelines for Authors"
    • Incorporate into the manuscript relevant literature that supports the research
    • Clearly present research methodologies, results and analysis in writing
    • Submit the manuscript to journal
    • Communicate with editorial staff
    • Incorporate peer-comments into manuscript
  • Communicate research findings via oral presentation
