Practice Management Goals


Demonstrate Leadership in Practice Management

  • Participate in the steps required to initiate a pharmaceutical care practice
    • Market pharmaceutical care to patients
    • Develop a referral system with other health care professionals
    • Understand strategies for determining the value of and securing compensation for pharmaceutical care
    • Understand the contract negotiation and implementation process
  • Describe political, economic and regulatory forces affecting the implementation of pharmaceutical care
    • Use knowledge of an organization¿s political and decision-making structure to influence accomplishing a practice goal
  • Participate in the development and implementation of selected policies and procedures
  • Effectively participate in or lead committees and informal work groups
  • Participate in activities that contribute to the pharmacy¿s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and performance standards (e.g., professional standards, statements, and guidelines, state and federal laws regulating pharmacy practice; OSHA regulations).
  • Understand the process of establishing a community pharmacy practice residency program
