Kassy Bartelme received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in May 2009. She graduated with an emphasis in leadership which included courses on leading change in pharmacy and implementing a leading change project. She completed this project as an intern when she helped start a pharmaceutical care practice at Pro Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy in Saint Paul. During school she was involved in Kappa Psi, Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance, Phi Lambda Sigma and the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic (PNC) and held leadership positions in each of these organizations. The PNC is a student-run free clinic which allows students from several Academic Health Center programs to work together to provide care to an underserved population. Kassy provided both dispensing and pharmaceutical care services at the PNC and is excited to be continuing at the clinic as a pharmacy preceptor during her residency.
As a resident, Kassy is practicing at Broadway Family Medicine clinic and enjoys serving a diverse patient population. She works closely with other providers to care for patients with diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, asthma, as well as seeing patients for smoking cessation and anticoagulation monitoring. She also precepts fourth year pharmacy students at the clinic and spends half her time in the Pharmaceutical Care Skills lab leading small group discussions which focus on pharmacotherapy and patient care skills.
In her personal time, Kassy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, knitting, rubber stamping and reading. She values the companionship and support of her husband, Alan, and golden retriever, Callie.
After completing the two year residency, Kassy would like to hold a practice faculty position at a college or school of pharmacy where she is able to both care for patients in an ambulatory care clinic and provide didactic education to pharmacy students.

Jessie received her Pharm.D. from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, Twin Cities campus in May 2009. As a student, Jessie was an active member of the Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance (MPSA) and enjoyed working with fellow student pharmacists, practicing pharmacists and members of the community. She was also a member of American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association and Kappa Epsilon. While in school, she was able to work at a large hospital system in the discharge and oncology infusion pharmacy providing patient counseling and medication dispensing.
Jessie is currently a Pharmaceutical Care Resident at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN. At her practice site she enjoys working with the veteran population to manage their chronic disease states including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, thyroid disorders, smoking cessation, anticoagulation and congestive heart failure. She is also involved in groups and teaching sessions with veterans focusing on the same chronic disease states.
In the future, Jessie hopes to continue to provide pharmaceutical care in an ambulatory care setting. She intends to work to increase community awareness of the benefits of lifestyle changes on improving general health & wellness, as well as preventing and improving management of chronic diseases.

Jenna Buskohl earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with an emphasis in leadership from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in May 2009. She participated with and held leadership positions in pharmacy organizations including the Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance as Operation Immunization co-coordinator, the Rho Chi Honor Society-Mu Chapter as Secretary, and Phi Delta Chi-Theta Chapter as Alumni Liaison. She also worked as a pharmacy intern for Target Pharmacy. During her second year of pharmacy school, Jenna completed her senior year with the University of Minnesota Rowing Team helping them win the 2007 Big 10 Championship.
As the ambulatory care resident at the Paynesville Area Health Care System, Jenna is able to experience a wide range of clinical pharmacy services unique to a critical access hospital. She works with patients receiving anticoagulation, diabetes, and MTM services at the clinic. In addition, she helps provide clinical pharmacy services for hospital in-patients and nursing home residents. She is the team leader for the HRSA Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Collaborative Paynesville team. This team consists of health care providers from the clinic, the local pharmacy, and several home health agencies working to improve patient safety for a high risk population receiving anticoagulation services. She also started a free community walking club where she walks one night per week with local residents and is available to answer health related questions, provide health topics and blood pressure checks. After her residency, Jenna plans to pursue a pharmacy career in a rural community where she can provide clinical pharmacy services and promote healthy lifestyle choices.

Andrew Bzowyckyj graduated with his Pharm.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 2009. While at UConn, Andrew held many leadership positions in several pharmacy organizations – Region I Member-at-large and National Member-at-large for the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists; Treasurer for Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity – Nu Chapter; and Class of 2009 Representative to the University of Connecticut Pharmacy Student Government. He was also heavily involved in the Connecticut Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Connecticut Society of Health-System Pharmacists. All through pharmacy school, he worked for Manchester Memorial and Rockville General Hospitals in Eastern Connecticut. For fun, Andrew enjoys running long distance road races. He has already run three half marathons and is currently training for his first marathon.
Andrew is currently in the first year of the University of Minnesota’s two-year Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Program. His current role has him working at Smiley’s Clinic in Minneapolis for half of the week as well as working with the University of Minnesota - College of Pharmacy for the second half of the week. At Smiley’s, Andrew works with the rest of the health care team, including physicians, nurses, patient care staff, etc., to provide patient education and medication therapy management services to a variety of patients with different chronic disease states. At the College of Pharmacy, Andrew facilitates patient care labs for student pharmacists in their first three years of pharmacy school.
After completing residency, Andrew plans to pursue a career in academia while providing pharmacy services at an ambulatory care practice site.

Amy Edge is a 2009 graduate from the University of Minnesota-College of Pharmacy where she earned her Pharm.D. Amy was involved in Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc, Rho Chi Society, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association, Minnesota Pharmacists Association, Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance and Minnesota Society of Health Systems Pharmacists. While in Kappa Psi, she was involved in the Kidney Early Evaluation Program, Multiple Sclerosis Walk and a summer camp for children with asthma. She also was the chair of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Charity Walk, chair for the Fundraising Committee, and a member of the Conclave Committee for her Kappa Psi Chapter. During her time in pharmacy school, she worked at Walgreens. When she wasn’t participating in activities related to pharmacy she played in sport leagues including basketball, softball and volleyball with her friends.

Drew Klinkebiel earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy in May of 2008. During his time at UNMC, he enjoyed serving as President of the UNMC COP Class of 2008, Phi Lambda Sigma Beta Xi chapter President, Parliamentarian for the UNMC American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) chapter, and UNMC Student Senate Treasurer. In addition to these activities, Drew also worked as a pharmacy intern at The Nebraska Medical Center Summit Plaza Pharmacy where he was able to assist with the management of anticoagulation, dyslipidemia, and diabetes mellitus through a pharmacist-physician collaborative practice agreement.
Drew is currently a second year Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Resident who divides his time between Boynton Health Services and the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. While at the college, he serves as an instructor in the Pharmaceutical Care Learning Lab and as a group facilitator for the EPhECT program. The other half of his time is spent in the clinic at Boynton starting a Medication Therapy Management practice and assisting the organization by providing clinical pharmacy services. Last year, Drew’s clinical site was Broadway Family Medicine clinic where he precepted fourth year pharmacy students and worked with disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, asthma, smoking cessation, and anticoagulation. After completion of his residency, Drew hopes to continue to provide pharmaceutical care within the ambulatory care setting and maintain ties with a College of Pharmacy to assist with the education of future pharmacists.

Kajua Betsy Lor is a 2009 Doctor of Pharmacy graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Kajua has been actively involved in several professional organizations at the School of Pharmacy, on campus and nationally. These positions include President of the Multicultural Affairs Program in Pharmacy, Vice President of Organizational Affairs and International Pharmaceutical Student Federation Liaison of the Wisconsin Society of Pharmacy Students, Pharmacy Liaison of the Health Professionals Mentoring Program, Student Senator, committee member of the UW- Madison Dean of Students Advisory Board and UW representative of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacy – Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee. She has also been an avid community volunteer, serving as the Relay for Life Co-Chair and educating about chronic diseases at local health fairs. Kajua completed an independent study on “Preserving the Oral History of Hmong Herbal Medicinal Use”. She presented her findings with a poster presentation at the Fall PSW Annual Meeting and at the national American Pharmacist Association (APhA) Conference in San Antonio, TX. At the Spring PSW Educational Conference 2009, Kajua presented a workshop entitled “Cultural Perspectives: Hmong and Pharmacy”. Kajua completed internships with HealthPartners in Bloomington, MN as part of the AMCP/FMCP/Pfizer Internship Program and Walgreens in Oshkosh, WI. In her spare time, Kajua enjoys traveling, learning languages, trying new food and photography.
Heather Maracle, Pharm.D. Heather Maracle received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in May 2009. As a pharmacy student, Heather served as historian for Kappa Epsilon Pharmacy Fraternity, where she enjoyed working with fellow student pharmacists to promote women in pharmacy and participated in various breast cancer awareness events. She was also actively involved in the Leech Lake Medicine Project, a program dedicated to providing pharmaceutical care to the local Native American community. At the Leech Lake Medicine Project, Heather was able to learn about barriers to health care unique to the Native American community, and work with experienced practitioners to overcome some of these barriers, optimize patient’s drug therapy, and improve patient’s quality of life. Outside of pharmacy, Heather enjoys staying active by playing hockey and soccer and traveling. As the Medication Therapy Management Resident for Fairview Pharmacy Services, Heather is able to be involved in many exciting opportunities. Heather spends two days a week at the Fairview Uptown Clinic working with patients and physicians to manage chronic disease states such as, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, asthma, and smoking cessation. Heather also spends one to two days a week providing home visits to patients who are 60 years of age or older and are on four or more medications. She is able to dedicate the rest of her time to precepting pharmacy students, providing medication safety information to seniors, and expanding the pharmaceutical care practice to underserved communities. In the future, Heather hopes to continue to practice pharmaceutical care within the ambulatory care setting, with a focus on Native American patients.

Jennifer Nickell, Pharm.D. Jenny Archer graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University Of Minnesota College Of Pharmacy in May 2009. Jenny attended the Duluth campus where she also completed her undergraduate degree in May 2005. She was an active member of Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance (MPSA), UMD PharmD, College Board and Phi Delta Chi Beta Psi chapter where she served two years on the executive board. She enjoyed participating in local and rural heath fairs where she was able to interact with the community and assist in screening for diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, fall risk and many more. Jenny also worked as a pharmacy intern at Walgreens while in school. Jenny is currently one of the residents at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN. At her practice site she works directly with Veterans in the outpatient clinics, and is involved with therapeutic decision making surrounding their care. She works with the Veterans and their providers to help manage their chronic disease states including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, thyroid disorders, smoking cessation, anticoagulation and congestive heart failure. She will also be involved with teaching and precepting 4th year pharmacy students as they rotate through the VA. Jenny is excited to work with the Veterans while expanding on her clinical pharmacy knowledge and skills. Sean Stewart, Pharm.D.
Sean Stewart received his Pharm.D from the University of Minnesota in 2009. As a student pharmacist, Sean was involved in many professional pharmacy organizations and committees. Sean served in many leadership positions including president of Phi Lambda Sigma, Duluth campus vice president of College Board (student government organization), vice-president of the Beta Psi chapter of the Phi Delta Chi fraternity, and active member of the Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. He also participated in the Education and Policy Committee, Practitioner Development Committee, and the Curriculum Revision Task Force. He completed pharmacy internships at the Duluth Clinic Pharmacy in Duluth, MN, and at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Outside of the college of pharmacy, he served as assistant coach for the University of Minnesota Duluth Alpine Ski Club. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, running, biking, and playing guitar. Sean is a pharmaceutical care resident at St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic. He provides medication therapy management services to patients in the department of internal medicine, and works with a great team of physicians, nurses, and assistants to help manage their chronic conditions. He also serves on the Hospice Care Team, helps precept pharmacy students on APPEs, delivers CME presentations to clinic providers, and instructs pharmacy students in the pharmaceutical care learning center at the College of Pharmacy. Sean is excited about his year of residency, and plans to seek a career in academia with a clinical ambulatory care practice following his residency training. | |||
Katharine Scheidt, Pharm.D. Katharine is a 2009 graduate of Drake University College of Pharmacy, where she earned her Pharm.D. and B.S. in Neuroscience. During the years spent at Drake, Katharine was involved with pharmacy organizations, such as ASHP, APhA, and ASP. She participated in patient counseling competitions and community health programs such as Iowa Diabetes Day. Katharine also held leadership positions within the Drake community by working as a Resident Assistant in the dorms and serving as President of Kappa Alpha Theta. Her pharmacy experience includes working at Hy-Vee pharmacy during her time at Drake and completing an internship at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Her specific interests include serving the mental health population and incorporating complementary and alternative medicine into mainstream healthcare. In her free time, Katharine enjoys bike riding, swimming, photography, and painting.

Sarah Schweiss, Pharm.D. Sarah Schweiss is a 2009 graduate from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, where she earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy. During her time at the University of Minnesota, Sarah chose to actively engage in a diverse selection of experiences. She participated and held leadership roles in Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance (Buddy’s Buddies committee member), American Pharmacists Association, and UMD Pharm.D. (Social Coordinator chair). Sarah also worked as both a research and teaching assistant, and was a summer intern at CVS/Pharmacy in Cape Cod, MA and St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys traveling, cooking, aerobics, hiking, rollerblading, and spending time with her puppy Bella. Sarah is currently completing an ambulatory care residency, and spends time at both SuperiorHealth Center and the College of Pharmacy in Duluth. At SuperiorHealth, Sarah works aside physicians, nurses, and support staff, providing care to help manage chronic disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, dyslipidemia, depression, anticoagulation, smoking cessation, and general medication management. At the College of Pharmacy, Sarah will be teaching labs and lectures focusing on patient care skills, pharmacotherapy, and immunizations to third year student pharmacists. Upon completion of the residency program, Sarah plans to seek a career in academia with a clinical ambulatory practice.
