| Daniel Aistrope, Pharm.D. Site: Open Cities Health Center Email: aistr002@umn.edu Dan Aistrope is a 2008 graduate from Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions where he earned his Pharm.D. During his time at Creighton, Dan was involved in many organizations and held a variety of leadership positions, including Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society (treasurer), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (president), the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists, Southwest Iowa Pharmacists Association, and the Pharmacy and Health Professions Student Government Executive Board (vice-president for pharmacy). Throughout his time at Creighton, Dan worked at Nebraska Methodist Hospital Pharmacy, Creighton Health Services Research Program, and Stoner Drug Co., and was a summer intern at CVS/Pharmacy in the Twin Cities. One of Dan’s favorite opportunities to serve at the School was through his work as a Student Ambassador, where he met with potential students and their families and gave tours of the University. In his spare time, Dan participated in intramural basketball, volleyball, and soccer, and continues to enjoy sports and running. Dan is in his second year of the Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Program, and spends half of his time establishing clinical pharmacy services at Open Cities Health Center in St. Paul, and half of his time at the College of Pharmacy. At Open Cities, Dan works with an excellent staff of physicians, nurses, and support staff, providing care to help manage chronic disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, dyslipidemia, anticoagulation, smoking cessation, and general medication management for an underserved population base. He is also actively involved in the Diabetes, HIV, Process Improvement, and EMR teams. Dan is a part of the HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative at Open Cities, designed to improve care for patients as health care providers study and implement change practices in patient safety, clinical pharmacy services and health outcomes to uninsured and underserved patients. At the College of Pharmacy, Dan teaches first through third year student pharmacists in the Pharmaceutical Care Learning Center where he leads labs focusing on patient care skills and pharmacotherapy. He also teaches in the EPhECT program for first and second year students, and is involved in online course management for other disciplines. Dan is excited about his second year of residency, and is seeking a career in academia with a clinical ambulatory practice focused on medication therapy management services following his program. |

| Magdi Awad, Pharm.D. Email: awadx009@umn.edu Magdi Awad is a 2009 graduate from University of Minnesota-Duluth School of Pharmacy. During his time at School of Pharmacy at UMD, Magdi was involved in many organizations, including College Board (professional student representative at Central Council), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American Pharmacists Association's Academy of Student Pharmacists, Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance, and Minnesota Pharmacists Association. During school, Magdi worked as a teaching assistant for the second year pharmaceutical care skills lab and was an intern at Walgreens Pharmacy in Duluth. Magdi has participated in many health fairs, in which he enjoyed providing patient care to the underserved population. He also participated in research activities and presented his abstracts at the ASHP Summer Meeting and the MPhA Annual Meeting. As the current resident of West Side Community Health Services, he is looking forward to participating in the management of chronic conditions, such as: diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and asthma. He is involved in providing services such as HIV medications adherence, warfarin management, and MTM to a diverse population (mostly latino), and precepting and teaching pharmacy students. In the future, Magdi would like to be adjunct faculty at a college of pharmacy with a clinical ambulatory practice

| Kassandra Bartelme, Pharm.D. Site: University of Minnesota Physicians - Broadway Clinic
Kassy Bartelme received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in May 2009. She graduated with an emphasis in leadership which included courses on leading change in pharmacy and implementing a leading change project. She completed this project as an intern when she helped start a pharmaceutical care practice at Pro Pharmacy, an independent pharmacy in Saint Paul. During school she was involved in Kappa Psi, Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance, Phi Lambda Sigma and the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic (PNC) and held leadership positions in each of these organizations. The PNC is a student-run free clinic which allows students from several Academic Health Center programs to work together to provide care to an underserved population. Kassy provided both dispensing and pharmaceutical care services at the PNC and is excited to be continuing at the clinic as a pharmacy preceptor during her residency. As a resident, Kassy is practicing at Broadway Family Medicine clinic and enjoys serving a diverse patient population. She works closely with other providers to care for patients with diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, asthma, as well as seeing patients for smoking cessation and anticoagulation monitoring. She also precepts fourth year pharmacy students at the clinic and spends half her time in the Pharmaceutical Care Skills lab leading small group discussions which focus on pharmacotherapy and patient care skills. In her personal time, Kassy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, knitting, rubber stamping and reading. She values the companionship and support of her husband, Alan, and golden retriever, Callie. After completing the two year residency, Kassy would like to hold a practice faculty position at a college or school of pharmacy where she is able to both care for patients in an ambulatory care clinic and provide didactic education to pharmacy students. |
| Jessica Bruns, Pharm.D. Jessie received her Pharm.D. from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, Twin Cities campus in May 2009. As a student, Jessie was an active member of the Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance (MPSA) and enjoyed working with fellow student pharmacists, practicing pharmacists and members of the community. She was also a member of American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association and Kappa Epsilon. While in school, she was able to work at a large hospital system in the discharge and oncology infusion pharmacy providing patient counseling and medication dispensing. Jessie is currently a Pharmaceutical Care Resident at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN. At her practice site she enjoys working with the veteran population to manage their chronic disease states including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, thyroid disorders, smoking cessation, anticoagulation and congestive heart failure. She is also involved in groups and teaching sessions with veterans focusing on the same chronic disease states. In the future, Jessie hopes to continue to provide pharmaceutical care in an ambulatory care setting. She intends to work to increase community awareness of the benefits of lifestyle changes on improving general health & wellness, as well as preventing and improving management of chronic diseases. |

| Andrew Bzowyckyj, Pharm.D. Site: University of Minnesota Physicians - Smiley's Clinic Andrew is currently in the first year of the University of Minnesota’s two-year Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Program. His current role has him working at Smiley’s Clinic in Minneapolis for half of the week as well as working with the University of Minnesota - College of Pharmacy for the second half of the week. At Smiley’s, Andrew works with the rest of the health care team, including physicians, nurses, patient care staff, etc., to provide patient education and medication therapy management services to a variety of patients with different chronic disease states. At the College of Pharmacy, Andrew facilitates patient care labs for student pharmacists in their first three years of pharmacy school. After completing residency, Andrew plans to pursue a career in academia while providing pharmacy services at an ambulatory care practice site. |

| Site: St. Elizabeth's Medical Center Amy Edge is a 2009 graduate from the University of Minnesota-College of Pharmacy where she earned her Pharm.D. Amy was involved in Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc, Rho Chi Society, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association, Minnesota Pharmacists Association, Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance and Minnesota Society of Health Systems Pharmacists. While in Kappa Psi, she was involved in the Kidney Early Evaluation Program, Multiple Sclerosis Walk and a summer camp for children with asthma. She also was the chair of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Charity Walk, chair for the Fundraising Committee, and a member of the Conclave Committee for her Kappa Psi Chapter. During her time in pharmacy school, she worked at Walgreens. When she wasn’t participating in activities related to pharmacy she played in sport leagues including basketball, softball and volleyball with her friends. Amy is located at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha, MN as a first year ambulatory care resident. At St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Amy is focusing on rural healthcare. The Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Program is in its first full year of existence. The hospital and clinic in Wabasha as well as the entire community are very excited to have this program in their area. Amy spends most of her time talking to residents of the area about managing their medications. She has been working in conjunction with a Wellness Program provided at St. Elizabeth’s that focuses on patients with cardiac issues and metabolic syndrome. Amy will be working on expanding the MTM Program throughout the next year. She is excited to complete her residency and plans to seek a pharmacy career in a rural community where she hopes to develop or expand upon MTM services. |

Heather Maracle, Pharm.D. Heather Maracle received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in May 2009. As a pharmacy student, Heather served as historian for Kappa Epsilon Pharmacy Fraternity, where she enjoyed working with fellow student pharmacists to promote women in pharmacy and participated in various breast cancer awareness events. She was also actively involved in the Leech Lake Medicine Project, a program dedicated to providing pharmaceutical care to the local Native American community. At the Leech Lake Medicine Project, Heather was able to learn about barriers to health care unique to the Native American community, and work with experienced practitioners to overcome some of these barriers, optimize patient’s drug therapy, and improve patient’s quality of life. Outside of pharmacy, Heather enjoys staying active by playing hockey and soccer and traveling. As the Medication Therapy Management Resident for Fairview Pharmacy Services, Heather is able to be involved in many exciting opportunities. Heather spends two days a week at the Fairview Uptown Clinic working with patients and physicians to manage chronic disease states such as, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, asthma, and smoking cessation. Heather also spends one to two days a week providing home visits to patients who are 60 years of age or older and are on four or more medications. She is able to dedicate the rest of her time to precepting pharmacy students, providing medication safety information to seniors, and expanding the pharmaceutical care practice to underserved communities. In the future, Heather hopes to continue to practice pharmaceutical care within the ambulatory care setting, with a focus on Native American patients.

Jennifer Nickell, Pharm.D.
Jenny Archer graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University Of Minnesota College Of Pharmacy in May 2009. Jenny attended the Duluth campus where she also completed her undergraduate degree in May 2005. She was an active member of Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance (MPSA), UMD PharmD, College Board and Phi Delta Chi Beta Psi chapter where she served two years on the executive board. She enjoyed participating in local and rural heath fairs where she was able to interact with the community and assist in screening for diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, fall risk and many more. Jenny also worked as a pharmacy intern at Walgreens while in school.
Jenny is currently one of the residents at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, MN. At her practice site she works directly with Veterans in the outpatient clinics, and is involved with therapeutic decision making surrounding their care. She works with the Veterans and their providers to help manage their chronic disease states including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, thyroid disorders, smoking cessation, anticoagulation and congestive heart failure. She will also be involved with teaching and precepting 4th year pharmacy students as they rotate through the VA. Jenny is excited to work with the Veterans while expanding on her clinical pharmacy knowledge and skills. In the future, she hopes to continue in an ambulatory care setting as a clinical pharmacist. | |||

Sean Stewart, Pharm.D.
Sean Stewart received his Pharm.D from the University of Minnesota in 2009. As a student pharmacist, Sean was involved in many professional pharmacy organizations and committees. Sean served in many leadership positions including president of Phi Lambda Sigma, Duluth campus vice president of College Board (student government organization), vice-president of the Beta Psi chapter of the Phi Delta Chi fraternity, and active member of the Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance. He also participated in the Education and Policy Committee, Practitioner Development Committee, and the Curriculum Revision Task Force. He completed pharmacy internships at the Duluth Clinic Pharmacy in Duluth, MN, and at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Outside of the college of pharmacy, he served as assistant coach for the University of Minnesota Duluth Alpine Ski Club. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, running, biking, and playing guitar.
Sean is a pharmaceutical care resident at St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic. He provides medication therapy management services to patients in the department of internal medicine, and works with a great team of physicians, nurses, and assistants to help manage their chronic conditions. He also serves on the Hospice Care Team, helps precept pharmacy students on APPEs, delivers CME presentations to clinic providers, and instructs pharmacy students in the pharmaceutical care learning center at the College of Pharmacy. Sean is excited about his year of residency, and plans to seek a career in academia with a clinical ambulatory care practice following his residency training. | |||
Katharine Scheidt, Pharm.D. Katharine is a 2009 graduate of Drake University College of Pharmacy, where she earned her Pharm.D. and B.S. in Neuroscience. During the years spent at Drake, Katharine was involved with pharmacy organizations, such as ASHP, APhA, and ASP. She participated in patient counseling competitions and community health programs such as Iowa Diabetes Day. Katharine also held leadership positions within the Drake community by working as a Resident Assistant in the dorms and serving as President of Kappa Alpha Theta. Her pharmacy experience includes working at Hy-Vee pharmacy during her time at Drake and completing an internship at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Her specific interests include serving the mental health population and incorporating complementary and alternative medicine into mainstream healthcare. In her free time, Katharine enjoys bike riding, swimming, photography, and painting.

Sarah Schweiss, Pharm.D. Sarah Schweiss is a 2009 graduate from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, where she earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy. During her time at the University of Minnesota, Sarah chose to actively engage in a diverse selection of experiences. She participated and held leadership roles in Minnesota Pharmacy Student Alliance (Buddy’s Buddies committee member), American Pharmacists Association, and UMD Pharm.D. (Social Coordinator chair). Sarah also worked as both a research and teaching assistant, and was a summer intern at CVS/Pharmacy in Cape Cod, MA and St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys traveling, cooking, aerobics, hiking, rollerblading, and spending time with her puppy Bella. Sarah is currently completing an ambulatory care residency, and spends time at both SuperiorHealth Center and the College of Pharmacy in Duluth. At SuperiorHealth, Sarah works aside physicians, nurses, and support staff, providing care to help manage chronic disease states such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, dyslipidemia, depression, anticoagulation, smoking cessation, and general medication management. At the College of Pharmacy, Sarah will be teaching labs and lectures focusing on patient care skills, pharmacotherapy, and immunizations to third year student pharmacists. Upon completion of the residency program, Sarah plans to seek a career in academia with a clinical ambulatory practice.
