Teaching Philosophy

We provide the student an opportunity to apply the knowledge they have attained in the classroom to a real life setting.  In addition we encourage development of assessment skills in patient triage with over the counter medication use.

We give the student the opportunity to function as a pharmacist in every detail under the supervision and direction of the pharmacist on duty.

We encourage independent study time to research topics of interest that are identified as objectives to meet during the rotation.

Detailed Site Information

Institution
We are a 24 hour drive thru community pharmacy in the Suburban Twin Cities that averages about 550 prescriptions daily.  The store was built in November 2000.

Institutional Mission Statement and Vision
We are a pharmacy provider that provides many services and conveniences for the patient population.

.Pharmacy Services
We process prescription orders, bill 3rd party plans, we are a designated compounding specialty center and of course offer  consultation on prescription and over the counter medications

Professionalism and Assessment
We try to follow the college of pharmacy outcome based evaluation to ensure that the student gets a broad exposure to everything a chain pharmacy like Walgreens has to offer to the patient and support of the employees in the department.

Resources
We provide access to Walgreen’s industry recognized Intercom Plus computer system with all it has to offer to the patient and to the pharmacy staff in providing best information and service to the patient.  As a compounding specialty center we will give you experience with making creams and ointments (unguator) oral troches, suppositories, capsules and suspensions (stir plate).  Parking is free and there are many area restaurants to choose from.
