Institution
Setzer Pharmacy is a pharmaceutical care oriented independent pharmacy that processes an avg. of 350 rx/day. In addition to pharmacy services, we offer a full service gift department and extensive durable medical equipment department with a specialist on staff. We have close ties to The College and are active in the surrounding community.
Pharmacy Services
Setzer Pharmacy has a staff of 5 pharmacists and 5 technicians. We offer MTM services, have collaborative practice agreements, and utilize a pharmaceutical care oriented practice setting. Furthermore, we are able to process prescriptions for most medical equipment and supplies. Our pharmacists have over 100 years of combined pharmacy experience and have all graduated from the University of Minnesota.
Professionalism and Assessment
I am continually assessing each student throughout the rotation. I will informally meet with the student after weeks 1 and 2 to advise on areas for improvement if needed. A formal evaluation is performed on the last day of the rotation where each aspect of the evaluation tool is discussed in depth with the student
Resources
The student has a designated work area equipped with desk, computer and full Internet access. Parking is free and many restaurants nearby.

APPE Structure
A syllabus will be provided on day one. Content may be modified depending on student experience. Students will review directly with preceptor at least one topic each week. Students will be expected to be able to present a Power Point presentation to pharmacy staff during week 5. In addition, various research projects will be assigned throughtout the rotation.
Student Roles and Responsibilities
The student will be expected to engage in all Pharmacist roles including but not limited to: processing prescriptions, patient counseling, MTM services, compounding. The student will be the primary source for all clinical information under the guidance of the preceptor. Judgement calls and decision making process is also emphasized and a key part of the learning experience.e.
Educational Opportunities:
Drug company representatives frequently visit for educational sessions (conference calls, lunch etc). Students may also be involved in research studies that the pharmacy may be participating in at the time
