Teaching Philosophy

Our teaching philosophy blends both week by week rotation structure with flexibility for students to concentrate on areas of hospital pharmacy they are interested in. We encourage students to explore every area in the hospital in which medications are used (surgery, ER, ambulatory care, radiology, etc.).

Institutional Mission Statement and Vision:
Accommodating you with care and compassion by dedicating ourselves to you everyday.

Pharmacy Services
The Cuyuna Regional Medical Center pharmacy provides complete medication services for the hospital, ambulatory care department, including chemotherapy, as well as select nursing home residents, and hospice patients. All pharmacists and pharmacy students share in the responsibilities of clinical pharmacy services including nutritional support, pharmacokinetics, renal dosing, patient and staff education, etc.

Professionalism and Assessment
Student evaluations will be conducted with input from all pharmacists involved at the site. Informal evaluations will be conducted at the end of each week to establish progress with the week by week schedule and to determine areas in which the student would like to explore in more detail. A formal evaluation will be conducted at the end of the rotation utilizing the outcomes and evaluation tool provided by the college of pharmacy.

Resources
Students will have their own desk with computer/internet access and space to store personal belongings. Students have access to a multitude of references, including Micromedex and UptoDate. A full service cafeteria and coffee shop/deli are on site, or students may bring their own lunch (microwave and refrigerator available for use). Free parking is available in adjoining lots to the medical center.
