Institution
Riverwood Garrison Clinic Pharmacy is a small retail pharmacy located in a rural community. The pharmacists emphasize patient counseling with every new prescription as well as over-the-counter products. Due to our smaller prescription volume, the pharmacists and students are able to spend additional time with each patient to counsel, offer advice, and answer questions about medications.
Institutional Mission Statement and Vision
Our promise is to enhance and improve the health and well-being of everyone we serve through commitment and compassion.

Teaching Philosophy
Riverwood Healthcare has a standing and ongoing commitment to the education of the next generation of health care providers. The staff is open to mentoring students and encouraging them to seek out and explore areas of interest. The student should be self-motivated to seek out these opportunities. Students will learn to communicate with and educate patients as well as work with other professionals in a community health care setting that includes hospital, clinic, and retail settings.
Professionalism and Assessment
Students should dress in a professional manner. Business casual is acceptable.
An introduction to the APPE rotation outcomes and walk through introductions will occur the first morning of this rotation.
Evaluations will be conducted at mid term to establish progress and identify the focus of the remaining weeks and a final evaluation will be done at the end of the rotation based on outcomes met and mentor feedback.
Resources
Free parking is available in adjoining lots to the clinic and hospital. Students can bring their own lunch, or dine out on their lunch break while at the Garrison Pharmacy. There is a break room available at the clinic equipped with a microwave and refrigerator. While at the hospital, they also have the opportunity to eat in the cafeteria.
