Detailed Site Information

Institution
When Miner's Hospital closed in the late 1950's, 17 Cuyuna Range cities and townships joined together to build a new district hospital. They continue to support the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center today. The Medical Campus in Crosby takes a progressive approach to rural health care. This positive, "can-do" philosophy to the unique challenges facing rural health care today makes each of our member institutions a vitally important member of the health care community. The campus includes: Cuyuna Lakes Pharmacy, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIMIS), Central Lakes Medical Clinic, Crosby Eye Clinic, Minneapolis Heart Institute – Crosby, Long-Term Care Facility, & Hallett Cottages. We have over 700 doctors, nurses, health care professionals, and support staff working to build a proactive, high tech patient centered medical community.

Institutional Mission Statement and Vision
Dedicated to You. Every day.

Pharmacy Services
Cuyuna Lakes Pharmacy offers prescription & educational services for our clinic outpatients, hospital discharges, & emergency room patients. We serve as a valuable information resource for the various health care providers on site. We have a private consultation room and are also developing MTM services.

Professionalism and Assessment
A formal performance evaluation by your preceptor will occur twice during the APPE: a mid-term evaluation to establish progress & identify the focus of the remaining weeks; and a final evaluation based on outcomes met. Ongoing feedback from the pharmacists will be provided throughout the experience.

Resources
Workspace and computer/internet access (including MicroMedex) are available for student use both in the pharmacy & the hospital computer lab. A locker for personal belongings will be assigned to the student at the beginning of rotation. Full service cafeteria on site or you may bring a bag lunch (microwave & refrigerator available for use). Free parking is available in adjoining lots to the medical center.
