Dual Degree Programs

The Pharm.D./MBA Dual Degree Program with the Carlson School of Management (CSOM) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities

The Pharm.D./MBA Dual Degree Program was developed for students who have already been enrolled in the University of Minnesota’s Pharm.D. Program (Twin Cities or Duluth campuses).  This program serves students who wish to earn an MBA degree from the Carlson School of Management (CSOM) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, as well as their Pharm.D. Students apply to the Full-Time MBA Program during the fall semester of their third year in the College of Pharmacy, but do not begin the MBA Program until the fourth year of this five-year dual degree program.

Both degrees are completed in five years. To complete in this time frame students will carry a very demanding course load. Students must be in good standing academically and not on probation. After acceptance into the dual degree program, students meet with both their Pharm.D. and MBA advisors to be sure that their study plan satisfies both degree requirements. The dual degree Pharm.D./MBA enables students to complete the two degrees in a shorter time frame than they would if the degrees were pursued separately.

The Pharm.D./MBA Dual Career Program with the Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth

he Pharm.D./MBA Dual Career Program was developed for students who are enrolled in the University of Minnesota’s Pharm.D. Program (Duluth campus). This program serves students who wish to earn an MBA degree from the Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth, as well as their Pharm.D. Students apply to the MBA Program before they begin the fall semester of their first year in the College of Pharmacy, and begin the MBA Program in their first year of this four-year dual career program.

Both degrees are completed in four years. To complete in this time frame students will carry a very demanding course load. Students must be in good standing academically and not on probation. After acceptance into the dual career program, students meet with both their Pharm.D. and MBA advisors to be sure that their study plan satisfies both degree requirements. The dual career Pharm.D./MBA enables students to complete the two degrees in a shorter time frame than they would if the degrees were pursued separately.

The scheduling of courses will depend on the year of entry (based on a three-year cycle), but a schedule is available for any entry year for completion of both degrees in four years. Students will register in both the Pharm.D. program, and the LSBE MBA program.
