Detailed Site Information

Institution
Spooner Health System is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in northwest Wisconsin. Attached is a 90-bed skilled nursing long-term care facility and SMDC-Spooner outpatient clinic.

Pharmacy Services
Spooner Health System currently employs 2 pharmacists and 4 pharmacy technicians. Pharmacists are actively involved in formulary review through P & T committee meetings. Pharmacists screen orders with particular attention to renal dosing of all medications. Pharmacists are also responsible for monthly consulting/ chart review for the long-term care facility.

Resources
Students are provided with a workstation with computer. Breakfast and lunch are served daily in the hospital cafeteria.

Student Roles and Responsibilities
Student will be involved in IV preparation, chart review, policy and procedure writing, and order screening
