Fergus Falls Region

Fergus Falls has a population of 13,000 and is located in west central Minnesota in the heart of lake country, with over 1,000 lakes in its county. It is 180 miles northwest of Minneapolis and 200 miles east of Duluth. Todd Johnson, the Regional Experiential Coordinator, came to Fergus Falls in 1976 to establish clinical pharmacy services on behalf of the College of Pharmacy. He oversees the longest running out-state APPEs at the College. A variety of sites are available with all required APPEs along with electives offered, including Acute Care, Institutional Practice, Community Practice, Ambulatory Care, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, MTM. Surrounding communities include Detroit Lakes, Perham, White Earth, Wadena, Alexandria, and Morris. Students have the option to experience “blended” APPEs, where they are exposed to a wide variety of activities/APPEs during their block.
