Ambulatory Care
The Ambulatory Care Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience is a required 5 week supervised clinical pharmacy experience in an outpatient setting. Through observation and practice, students will develop and explore their roles in an interdisciplinary health team. Students will participate in clinical care conferences, take medication histories, monitor drug therapy including performing physical assessments, provide patient education, and research patient-specific drug information questions. Students will interact with a number of different health care providers and participate in a variety of patient care activities with the pharmacy preceptor and often, the medical team. The student will be provided with many opportunities to apply academic and didactic clinical coursework to patient care in the ambulatory setting. The student shall actively participate in the health care decision-making process, especially as it pertains to drug therapy.
