The University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy requires all Pharm.D. students to maintain valid CPR certification upon completion of the second semester of the Pharm.D. curriculum. This certification must be either CPR for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) or Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (American Heart Association). This qualification ensures all students have demonstrated the skills necessary to respond during emergencies at internship sites or during Early Pharmacy Experience with Community Teachers (EPhECT) visits. The Office of Student Services (OSS) will validate all certificates of completion. Students who don’t complete certification will have a registration hold placed on their record and will not be allowed to participate in required EPhECT and Advance Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs).
