Campus Selection Procedure

Please read ALL of the following information carefully before making your campus selection.  Once you have submitted your online supplemental application, your campus selection cannot be changed.

Before making a decision about campus selection, we strongly encourage applicants to the College of Pharmacy to research the two campuses. Please feel free to inquire about either campus by calling the Office of Student Services in the Twin Cities (612-624-9490) and Duluth (218-726-6000). Applicants may also research the campuses by viewing the Twin Cities Campus and Duluth Campus web pages.

Applicants must make one of the following selections on the college's supplemental application:

* I will only accept an offer of admission from the Twin Cities campus.
* I will only accept an offer of admission from the Duluth campus.
* I will accept an offer of admission from either campus.

  • If an applicant indicates that they will accept an offer of admission from either campus, the admissions committee will select the campus of admission for the applicant. It is not possible to indicate "I will accept an offer of admission from either campus - but I have a preference for the Twin Cities (or Duluth) campus".  All offers of admission are final and the campus of admission cannot be changed.
  • Selecting "I will accept an offer of admission from either campus" does NOT improve an applicant's chances of being admitted to the college.  In some cases it may enhance a candidate's chance of being from the waitlist* (see example below).
  • Once an applicant has made a decision about campus selection and submitted this online application, the selection may NOT be changed at anytime. Further, once a student is admitted to a campus, the student cannot switch campuses at will.

Frequently Asked Questions about Campus Selection

Q: Will selecting "I will accept an offer of admission from either campus" improve my chances of being admitted to the U of MN College of Pharmacy?

A: No. The Admissions Committee admits students based on the strength of their application and the admissions criteria, not on which campus an applicant prefers to attend.  Selecting "either campus" can, however, enhance the possibility of being admitted from the waitlist.

Q: Can I select "I will accept an offer of admission from either campus" but then make a note on my application to indicate that I have a preference for one campus?

A: No. If you indicate you will accept an offer of admission from either campus, you may not make a preference for one campus over the other. You are essentially putting the decision about your campus of admittance in the hands of the Admissions Committee.  All campus admission decisions made by the admissions committee are final and cannot be changed.

Q: Can I change my campus of admittance?

A: No. Once you have been admitted to a campus, the decision is final and cannot be altered.

Q: What happens to my campus selection if I end up on the waitlist?

A: Applicants on the waitlist will be offered positions in the college in the following manner:

  • The college operates one waitlist for both campuses, and offers positions to applicants as openings occur on either campus.
  • Applicants who indicate they will accept an offer from either campus will be offered a position in the college as soon as their number is reached on the waitlist. They will be obliged to accept that position, regardless of campus, or forfeit their position on the waitlist.
  • Applicants who indicate they will only accept an offer from a specific campus will only be offered a position in the college if an opening on that campus occurs.

*EXAMPLE: Applicant A indicated she would only accept an offer from the Twin Cities Campus, and she is number 1 on the waitlist. Applicant B is number 2 on the waitlist, and indicated he would accept an offer from either campus.

The first opening in the college is on the Duluth campus, hence applicant A will not be offered that position - it will instead be offered to applicant B (number 2 on the waitlist) because applicant B indicated he would accept an offer from either campus.

Applicant B will be obliged to accept the offer to Duluth, or forfeit his position on the waitlist.

Applicant A will be offered the first position in the Twin Cities campus, if and when it is available.
