Henri R. Manasse, Jr., 26th Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient
Henri R. Manasse, Jr. graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration in 1974. After leaving the University of Minnesota, he went on to the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he rose through the ranks from Assistant to Full Professor and served as Dean for twelve years and then as Interim Vice Chancellor for Health Services at the Health Sciences Center.
In 1993, he became the Vice President for Health Sciences at the University of Iowa and Chairman of the Board of The University of Iowa Health system. His current position is Executive Vice President, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, in Bethesda, Maryland.
One of the many nomination letters for Dr. Manasse reads, "The true measure of a professional is the influence and effect the respective achievements have had not only on the public served, but also on fellow professionals. The esteem in which his opinions are held gives mounds of testimony to this indicia. Moreover, the attitudes, values and perspective derived from his Minnesota experiences have benefited us all."
Dr. Manasse was previously recognized by the College of Pharmacy as the Samuel W. Melendy Lecturer in 1990.
