Lucinda Maine

Lucinda Maine, 24th Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient

Dr. Maine obtained her B.S. in Pharmacy from Auburn University in 1980 and Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota in 1985. Prior to her current position as Senior Vice President for Professional and Public Affairs with the American Pharmaceutical Association, she served as Associate Dean for Student/Alumni Affairs and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Samford University.

Her involvement with the American Pharmaceutical Association spans over 20 years. As a student she served on the APhA's Task Force on Women, and had numerous Policy Committee appointments. She has also served as Vice Speaker and Speaker of the APhA House of Delegates, and was nominated to the Board of Trustees for the first time in 1988. Dr. Maine was also involved in the Minnesota Pharmaceutical Association where she was a member of the Board of Directors from 1984-1986 and where she served as Vice Speaker (1984-85) and Speaker (1985-86). A colleague describes her as being "one of the nation's foremost advocates of the appropriate role of the pharmacist in managing drug therapy." Another states, "Lucinda has been in the center of virtually all of the most progressive pharmacy initiatives of the 1990s."

The editorial staff of the American Druggist in October of 1997 chose Lucinda Maine as "one of the top 50 professionals whose actions have directly affected the way pharmacy is practiced today and will be practiced tomorrow."

Dr. Maine was previously recognized by the College of Pharmacy as the Samuel W. Melendy Lecturer in 1991
