J. Lyle Bootman


J. Lyle Bootman, 25th Outstanding Achievement Award Recipient

J. Lyle Bootman is Dean and Professor of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and founder and Executive Director of the Center for Pharmacoeconomic Research in Tucson. He received his B.S. in pharmacy from the University of Arizona and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota. In 1978, after completing an American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education and a Bush Foundation Fellowship, he joined the faculty of the University of Arizona.

He has been an active member of the American Pharmaceutical Association for the past 26 years, serving on policy committees, as a member of the House of Delegates and on the Board of Trustees. He is the current President of the APhA.

Letters of nomination for Professor Bootman were received from all corners of the globe. One such letter received from Western Australia read as follows: "Professor Bootman has made various significant contributions to pharmacy education and pharmacy practice in countries in North America, Europe and Asia as well as the Middle East. His expertise extends across a wide range of subject areas."

Dr. Bootman was previously recognized by the College of Pharmacy as the Samuel W. Melendy Lecturer in 1997.
