Leigh Turner, Ph.D., Department of Social Studies of Medicine, McGill University, will present the College of Pharmacy's 2008 Sadoff Memorial Symposium on Pharmacy, Law and Ethics titled "Medical Tourism and the Globalization of Health Care," April 29, 12:20 p.m., Coffman Union Theatre. Lunch will be served. Dr. Turner will be joining the faculty of the Center for Bioethics, College of Pharmacy and School of Public Health July 1, 2008. U of M College of Pharmacy ranked third in this year's U.S.News and World Report's ranking of pharmacy programs

The 2008 National Conference on Medication Access, Use and Safety in Rural America, sponsored by the College of Pharmacy PREPP Institute, will be held June 5th and 6th at the University Radisson in Minneapolis.

The UMD Employee Health and Wellness Center celebrated its grand opening of services designed to help employees and their families obtain and maintain good health December 2007. Among these services is the University of Minnesota Medication Therapy Management (MTM) Clinic staffed by College of Pharmacy faculty.

Dr. Sanne Magnan, an alumni of the College of Pharmacy Department of Medicinal Chemistry Ph.D. program, has been appointed as Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Health by Governor Pawlenty.

The commencement date has been officially changed to Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Northrop Auditorium.

The College will be proceeding with our Grant Writing program with Grant Writers Seminars and Workshops, LLC. It consists of two phases - a day long seminar and then full proposal development. There is plenty of room for interested faculty in Phase I and Phase 2 will be available for 15 participants who are obligated to develop a proposal for submission by Oct. 1, 2008. The on-site meeting for Phase I is February 20, 2008 and for Phase II is June 3-4, 2008; the participant responsibilities are to be completed by October 1, 2008.
